Carol

Condition:

Carol has rheumatoid arthritis. It is controlled by drugs so she thought she had nothing to worry about.

“I had no idea that having rheumatoid arthritis increased my risk of ischaemic heart disease, I didn’t even know what that was. As soon as I found out I was determined to do something to reduce my risk, exercise was the best option.”

“I have joined a gym, and go several times a week. I also walk a lot, especially at the weekends. I haven’t found that it makes my arthritis any worse at all. I have found that I enjoy the exercise and it feels good to be doing something positive for my long term health.”
